Some people say that working at home is beneficial to the worker and the family while others believe this is stressful to both the worker and the family. Discuss both opinions and state your own opinion
Technology has enabled many people to work remotely nowadays. working from home is now a concrete possibility for all kinds of people, but it has both negative and positive angles. This two positions will be discussed and analyzed.
Some people argue that having a home office may lead to stressful situations to both the worker and his/her family. This claim is based on an inherent human difficulty to separate work and home activities and environments. A clear example of this is a wife asking her husband to do certain small home chores or quick earrings, thus breaking her husband’s concentration. Although, this can be easily overcomed enforcing rules from both sides, for example, the wife will respect her husband’s working space not interrupting him and in exchange he will start and stop working at certain specific times.
On the other side, many people support the idea that a teleworker will have several attractive advantages over people working in an office, for instance, they don’t have to commute at all or adhere to a certain dress code, thus saving time and money that can be better invested in their families. Besides this point a person working from home will not suffer from the stress related to dealing with obnoxious coworkers or office gossips and even may have time to engage in a secondary work, increasing in this way his family income.
In conclusion, it has been proven that with some time management and self management skills the advantages of working from home outweigh by far the few setbacks it may pose. Therefore i strongly support the opinion that working from home is highly rewarding for a worker and his family.
