TASK TWO:
PROPOSITION: In some countries, marriages are arranged by the parents but in other cases, people choose their own marriage partner.
PROMPT: Discuss both systems.

Matrimony is actually an event of two individuals become one and act as a husband and wife. Some people commit to this situation because their parents said so, whilst for others they believe that it is an act of free will where it is a personal choice who will be their partner in life.

Admittedly, arrange marriage is actually not a new topic among population this phenomenon is widely practice amid Pakistanian and natives of Saudi Arabia. Fixed nuptial is a part of their customs which being done for couple of centuries ago where male and female cousins need to tie a knot in regard to their parents or ancestors decision to ensure the continuity of lineage of one family also to assure the prosperity of their fortune and wealth. Another point is, fixed marriage acts as a form of business to some. This is more common to some countries in Asia such as Japan and South Korea where parents decide to sell their child to marry someone in exchange to a large sum of money for lucrative investment and/or as amortization for the debit of the family which they cannot pay anymore.

However, it is worth mentioning that for others they believe that holy matrimony is an act of freedom of choice because it is stated in the sacrament that couple should not be forced or coerced due to the fact that marriage is a life-time commitment. It means that deciding to walk in the aisle should be made whole heartedly. Also, love should be the foundation and not money. As the lyrics of the Eagle band goes “Love will keep us alive” it is a metaphor for some people who believe that true love is more enough reason to engage in wedding and to motivate couples to nail down the longevity of this ritual.

In conclusion, while some other traditions think that marrying someone is a business there are others believe that it is a free choice and true love must exist. However, I think that this arrange marriage will still be part and never be banish since it is already a history and part of some cultures.
