Question: Nowadays private cars are not allowed in many city roads in different countries of the world. What are the advantages and disadvantages of this?
Answer:
Private car is one of the widely used vehicles for transportation at present time. However, the use of private cars in many city roads of various countries is prohibited because of having some impacts on people’s lives as well as environment.
Various advantages have been revealed because of banning the private cars. At the outset, decreasing the environmental contamination is the most eminent result of this decision. The noxious gases emitted from the vehicles are reduced which results in fresher air to breathe in the cities. Furthermore, the traffic jam is reduced in the towns because of which less time is consumed to reach a destination. In addition to that, another pollution, named as noise pollution, has been abrogated at a greater extent. This just not only have made the cities more livable but also have demolished the diseases related to the noise. Moreover, less use of private cars is always appreciated, because this results in less use of the natural resources. As we know that natural resources are indispensable for our survival, we should be aware of using it. The most commonly used fuels in private cars are diesel and gas. This decision assists us to save the resources for our future generation.
On the contrary, sometimes the situation becomes troublesome because of this decision. As people cannot use private cars, they travel by public transports more because of which these transports become more crowdy. Furthermore, sometimes people prioritize bicycle, motorcycle or walking for commuting. However, as in many cities there are no separate lanes for these types of vehicles, road accidents are increasing. Additionally, in medical emergencies people might need to go to hospital using private cars, but due to the law it can be difficult to reach there at the shortest time.
In conclusion, it can be said that, forbidding the use of private cars in cities must be appreciated by everyone for the sake of our future. However, the side effects of it must be resolved by providing the necessary facilities.
