In a country like Britain , wherein the government is already taking care of the citizens by providing cutting edge technology and state of art infrastructure , I believe it is every citizen’s responsibility to cater for their old age by themselves .
Firstly , there are currently numerous facilities already provided by the government which are free of cost , Like say NHS , which is a government organization providing free medical care to all its citizens and eligible immigrants . The government also provides free education to all the children up-till year 12 and provides social security to everyone.
Secondly , the government’s major funds should always be focused towards progressing the country’s economy . It is not advisable to move funds from other organizations like security , Industries etc to the care department .
Thirdly , a person’s financial state should always be his own responsibility which he should focus on much earlier in his life rather than relying on either the government or his children . Financial Independence should always be taught in school and individual’s should be groomed such that they are not a burden on either the government or family
In conclusion , I would suggest that the decision of staying at home or in a care should be taken by an individual well in-advance and he should plan his finances accordingly . It is neither sensible nor advisable to place these golden years of your life at someone else’s mercy .
