task 2- Teachers' responsibility

Teachers should only be responsible for judging the academic ability of students and not for the student’s general behaviour. To what extent do you agree or disagree?
Over the past few years, the role of teachers has been changing and currently, they are contributing to society in a remarkable way. While some people advocate that teachers are only accountable for students’ academic development, it appears that they need to consider developing students’ academic abilities as well as general behaviour.
There are obvious reasons why teachers have the responsibility for both aspects, but the first important argument is that creating a productive member of society requires considering the development of both academic and social skills. Because higher achievement in academic skills without social skills might not help people to perform better in the community and this may lead to an introversive behaviour. Therefore, academic education should always accompany with the development of general behaviour. The second notable reason is that teachers are involved a considerable amount of time in students’ lives. When young people start schooling, they spend a significant amount of the time in school with educators and peers and as a result, teachers can greatly enhance students’ personalities with academic skills and social skills. If teachers only focus on the academic improvement, it will negatively impact on the overall development of a person.
Despite these beliefs, there are others who claim that teachers are responsible only for academic studies and their argument is, while parents should be responsible for the development of students’ behaviour, teachers must only consider the academic aspect. However, this is not always the case because not every child is nurtured in a healthy family background, therefore there are circumstances where teachers should focus on developing both aspects.
In conclusion, although some argue that teachers have to focus on enhancing academic skills of students’ it is clear that they need to pay attention to both academic and social development of students. In the future, if teachers are more sensible to students, it will be beneficial for a child’s overall development.
