Let me tell you my ielts story. In order to apply for PR in Australia I needed S,L -8 and R,W-7.
So I took Ielts five times and got following results
2014 Nov - S 7.5 L 9 R 8.5 W6.5 (in Australia)
2015 Jan 17 - S7 L8.5 R8.5 W7.5 (in Sri Lanka)
2015 Jan 31 - S7 L8.5 R8.5 W7.5 (in Sri Lanka)
2015 May - S7 L8.5 R8.5 W6.5 (in Australia)
2015 July - S8.5, L8 R8 W6 (in Australia)

I couldn't believe I got 6 for writing in the last time. When I asked around about getting that part remarked, many people told me it would just be a waste of another $175. They told me that if there is a gap of more than 2 between scores, those papers get marked twice. And some people said that Ielts don't increase in one whole band score. But still I went ahead with a remark and applied for one on the 10th of August 2015. On the 24th of Sept 2015 I got the result of my remark. Can you believe, I got an increase in a whole band, my score jumped from 6 to 7.
I have booked another test for 8th Oct 2015, as I have the requirement for my skill assessment, thought I would try general this time and aim high this time so I can get more marks for PR.
