Topic:
Nowadays the way many people interact with each other has changed because of technology.

In what ways has technology affected the types of relationships people make?

Has this become a positive or negative development?

Response:

Social media like facebook, twitter and instagram has greatly changed the behaviour of people living in different continents. Advanced information technology has made it easier for people to make new friends, ease of distant communication and availability of resources online. At the same time it has some adverse effects as well including wastage of time, difficulties in after marital relationships and ease of access to unwanted data. Both opinions will be discussed in detail.

The benefits of people’s interaction via technology are far greater than its drawbacks. We can make a lot of friends via facebook and linkedin keeping in mind our common interests and cultures. Similarly, we can easily communicate with them using modern technological infrastructure. For example, family and friends can contact each other anytime while observing different time zones. Another evident fact is the availability of online resources which can be reproduced for one’s own benefit.

On the negative side it has been seen that relationships have been adversely impacted with the existence of technology. For instance, surveys showed that the ratio of breakups and divorces has increased after the popularity of social applications like facebook. Another example could be the availability of unwanted adult content over the internet which can also ruin generations at a very younger age. Hence, it makes technology a threat.

After analyzing both points of views, it is obvious that technology has vastly changed the behaviour of people. It is understood that the advantages are brighter as compared to the disadvantages. It is also advisable that technology should be used in a controlled environment in order to reap better benefits from its existence.
