task 1 question:
The charts below show the percentage of their food budget the average family spent on restaurant meals in
different years. The graph shows the number of meals eaten in fast food restaurants and sit-down
restaurants.

You should write at least 150 words.

The charts compare the proportion of expenditures on restaurant meals by an average family, and the graph illustrates how many meals were eaten in fast food restaurants and sit-down restaurants each year over a 30-year period.

It is clear that the budget spent on restaurant meals increased significantly. It is also noticeable that the number of meals serviced by fast food restaurants rose dramatically during this period.

In 1970, an average family set aside only 10% of their income for eating out, whereas in 2000 this figure increased by 40%, at 50% of total budget.

About 20 meals per year were ordered in both fast food restaurants and sit-down restaurants in 1970. After a decade, approximately 32 meals were eaten in sit-down restaurants, while the number of meals eaten in fast food restaurants was 28. Since then, preference of people towards the fast foods began to increase steadily and reached a peak of nearly 85 meals each year. Similarly, families showed more interest to stable restaurants and about 45 meals were ordered in these restaurants in 2000.
