Writing task 1 (a letter)
You recently stayed at your friend’s place, to look after the house while he/she is away. You accidentally damaged something in his/her house. Write a letter to your friend and say
- What was the accident?
- When did it happen?
- Suggest how the damage can be fixed.
------------------------------------
Dear John,
How is your holiday going? I hope you have a great time there. I am writing to tell you an accident happened last night in your kitchen and proposing a quick fix for that.
As you know, I have been looking after your apartment since you went for vacation last week. Everything was fine until a terrifying accident I encountered in the kitchen. I was ready to cook some food at 7pm yesterday as usual. I turned on the light of the range hood and the light was broken. Then I tried to change the bulb, which unfortunately caused the short circuit of the whole kitchen.
I am really sorry about the inconvenience to which you have been put. I would like to suggest to buy a new fuse for replacement, so I could check out whether it caused other damages in the appliances there. If so, this should be just a simple fix.
Please let me know what you think and hope this small accident doesn't ruin your mood in your holiday.
Best Regards,
Michael

Are there any improvements that can be done to move it to a higher band? Thanks a lot.
I am preparing for a test on Dec 5.
