Well, I come from a large historic place, long sandy beaches and IT Infrastructure community called Chennai. It is a capital city of Tamilnadu which is located in extreme south part of India. The homes are fairly new, modern looking and Main Street covered by malls and theatres. Chennai is a charming city with friendly cultured people. Because of many young people choose to build their careers within the Chennai city I feel this adds to Chennai as Wonderful city. Nowadays, Chennai could be described as A Night without Sleepy.
Interest about city.
Well, the main street that runs through the center of city has a small clock on the building. This building is called as Ripon Building which was established in 1688 governed by the British. Now the building is used as the Chennai corporation office. Chennai has several flyovers to divert the traffic during the peak hours. In the recent, the government started subway train station to avoid rush in busy hours.
What work major work at your city:
As I mentioned, IT infrastructure are predominantly software, so many young people choose to build their careers with the city. But people also work in the Hotel business at the Main Street.
Live
That’s an interesting question. I would say it is a good place to live for certain people. If you like a feel of stay in compatible lifestyle then you love Chennai. I can see all kind of people in Chennai enjoy it because they stay connected with the culture and relationship always.
IT infrastructure is main asset for this city so people work 24 hrs on shift basis in this city. However, I find this place need a little development in terms of language and main drawback is the climate. It is too hot for the entire year except the Southwest monsoon rainfall occurs between October to January. There are pros and cons in all the city but Home will always be a home.
Work that I do:
I manage graphics team for an accounting company, KPMG global services. Our company produces e-learning & course development to the clients that build products requires e-learning courses. My job involves a lot of task management such as client relationship management, branding management, project management resources management, vendor management. So this means I spend most of the day in meetings to ensure our projects are moving along as planned.
Enjoy work:
I always liked to work with creative and challenging work, so the social side of graphic will be shared with all the people works at KPMG. I am also enthusiastic about work at KPMG. I think the technologies we build are exciting.
Challenges at Work:
Well every month I have to show the billing report to our management team. That can sometimes be challenging, especially if we’ve had a slow production month on rare occasion. I have to engage people in profession developing program (PDP) from the team that underperform. This can be a challenging of course. Nobody likes to do this, I don’t think. I suppose those would be main challenges on my position.
Approaching with team:
I think it is important for my team members to feel I am a warm and approaching person. I try to be friendly with everyone. My team is only about 12 people, so it is easy for me to greed each person in the morning. I share information with them about my family and talk about general things. So I feel this personal touch makes people feel they know me and can trust me and come to me with any issues.
Que card: About Recent travel, why did you travel, which place have you visited and memorable on that trip
My wife, myself and along with our kids went to Coimbatore in the late December last year. We stayed in my sister-in-law’s place for few weeks which I think a dynamic and exciting city. While there me and my wife visited hill station called OOTY a hill station. In around OOTY, several places such as Rose garden, Botanical Garden, topslip, famous Mudhumalai forest, Doddabeta peak and Ooty lake. After this stretch in ooty, we train to Connur which is about 26 kms from OOty.
This train covers 16 tunnels, 28 curves and 250 bridges. Our primary reason for travel Coimbatore was not leisure actually, it was to attend my wife’s medical appointment as my wife is in the family way, but catching up with relatives and friends also part of our decision to go. I suppose what made this trip most memorable is threefold. For my one, my kid had never been so it has been her approach for first time to this place. Secondly, as I mentioned revisiting several of my friends and relative. Thirdly, I never forgets to amazing New Year Eve celebrations. There was studding word “Happy New year” on huge cake and stunning fire works displayed and loads of exciting people and that was a great time. So that’s our trip to Coimbatore in a Nut Shell. It was a really fun.
