In some countries, people believe that international tourism is a bad thing for their country. What are the reason for this ? how to change their views?

*********************************************************

Tourism has expanded its footprints globally. People go on for vacation from one country to another to explore the place and experience the culture. However, some people flak that international tourism is not good for their country.

One of the important reasons is it makes themselves and their country unsafe at times. Some people come as tourists and start staying in the country illegally in spite of their visa expiration. Later on they start indulging themselves into the violent activities which eventually turns riskier for the life of locals and spoils the environment of their country like start selling drugs and influencing the crowd.

Even some of the international tourists do not follow the rules and regulations and civic senses stringently in abroad. For e.g. Throwing up the garbage at the roadside despite of having bins around due to the lack of awareness OR not tipping off to the people for their services as this practice may not be followed in their country.

There are various ways through which this can be controlled. One of the important things is to have a strict background checking before letting anyone to enter into the country as an immigrant. For e.g. countries like US issues a dedicated visa for the tourist and while applying the candidate has to show up Journey tickets with the place of staying and sufficient funds during their stay. By that way you ensuring the tourist will return back to their homeland after stipulated time. A checklist should be given at the arrival or nowadays there are various websites or even dedicated counters should help them in knowing about the do’s and don’ts in the country.

Government should educate local crowd to ensure that they treat the tourist well .Tourism is not going to benefit them but also the helps the country economy grows. For e.g. A surgery in US which costs 10 times expensive than in India, lot of tourist comes down to India which will implicitly increase the medical tourism in the country.

To conclude, I think it’s just a matter of having the awareness among the tourist to ensure that they should abide by the rules and regulations so that it will help local to earn and have them a pleasant experience during their stay.

Hello!

I think that these ideas could work, but might create problems. If you require an extensive background check, many people will simply go to other countries. With regard to websites, are you requiring visitors to go to those sites before they enter the country? Requiring return tickets does not ensure that the visitors will leave. They could easily just decide not to use the ticket.

Overall, not a bad essay, but most points are insufficiently developed and meaning is sometimes unclear.

All the best,
David
