DESPITE HEALTH WARNINGS,A LARGE NUMBER OF PEOPLE CONTINUE TO SMOKE ALL OVER WORLD.WHY SHOULD WE BE CONCERNED ABOUT THIS?WHY SHOULD WE CONCERNED THIS?WHAT SOLUTIONS WOULD YOU SUGGEST?

The debate about dangers of smoking have always been making headlines in the past years .People have been warned about the serious dangers posed by this lifestyle but have continued to keep deaf ears about smoking .This have become a source a concern among health practitioners. This essay will critically analyse the dangers of smoking that might not have been told and offer possible solutions to this health risk.

Generally speaking, smoking is a bad habit with the potential to cause addiction among the users. It has been linked with lung cancer which is one of the most deadliest of all cancers and have been ranked as the third most common cancer after breast and prostate cancers .It have been proven by researchers that tar, a component in tobacco alter cell division leading to uncordinated pattern of cell growth. There is also a link between smoking and metabolism of nutrients leading to deposition of lipid plaque in the arteries, a condition health pundits have called Arteriolosclerosis .This according to them leads to narrowing of the blood vessels posing a risk to untimely death from coronary artery diseases.

With reference to the above risk mentioned, it will be right to quit this ugly habit.one of the ways to stop this is embarking on a lot of health awareness campaign aimed at educating people about the dangers of smoking. This will help enlighten people more and help win the war against the ugly trend. Also one of the challenges that health workers face is having to convince people whom have gone into addiction with smoking and hence suffer from withdrawal syndrome They tend to relapse after giving up on the habit. To help battle this, alternatives like nicotine patch or gum can be provided to help wean smokers off the habit.

To summarise, smoking is associated with serious health risk like cancers and sudden death from coronary artery diseases. Winning the fight to discourage people is through public health campaign and providing alternatives to addicts. This can go a long way to save our world

Hello!

I think that this essay is good on the problems, but the solution (education) is lacking.

Education is frequently touted as the catch-all solution to every problem. The thing is that it simply isn't. I know many smokers and every single one of them knows that smoking is bad for their health. That alone virtually destroys the argument for more education.

It's a similar situation with other issues. We can solve crime through education. Really? In the modern world many criminals are highly educated. The people who hack into bank accounts and steal money are not idiots who never went to school!

Don't fall into the trap of offering pointless solutions. Remember, if these issues could so easily be solved, even our dumbest politicians would have managed it by now!

All the best,
David
