Topic:-
It is important for children to learn the difference between right and wrong at an early age. Punishment is necessary to help them learn this distinction.
To what extent do you agree or disagree with this option?
What sort of punishment should parent and teachers be allowed to use to teach good behaviour to children?
***
One of the primary responsibilities which every parent/teacher has is to nurture the right values to their children. It's important to teach the difference between right and wrong especially to children as this could help in their upbringing. However, some people think punishment is a way to make them understand wherein some strongly criticize for this.
Some people are little strict and believe in taking this path. It's one of the ways through which you can give an alarm to children that there is something which they are not supposed to do. For e.g., if a child is being caught stealing something from others then Parent/teacher should give them a punishment. This would let them realize the mistake what they did. Even this will develop the sense of fear in their mind.
I believe that there various alternate means of communicating it to them .Children are more vulnerable and can easily be molded at an early age. It's just matter how do we communicate and create the awareness. There should be more behavioral session or play shows to teach them what is right or wrong. For e.g., showing them the significance of maintaining the hygiene, what could be the repercussion on their health by playing a short film. Teaching them the implications should help them in understanding the outcome clearly rather than punishing them for their mistakes.
To conclude, Punishment may be more reactive approach and offensive too. Physical abuse will make the child more adamant and could hamper in their overall development due to the fear factor.
