The government investment in arts, music and theatre is a waste of money. Government should invest more in public service instead. To what extent do you agree with this statement?

Every year there is a budget on how government plans to spend money on different sectors including arts, music, theatre, public service etc. Some people are of the opinion that investment in the area of arts, music and theatre is a waste of money and time and they are of the opinion that more fund should be put into the public services. In my opinion spending money in these mentioned area is a good move by the government. The reason for this will be outlined in this essay

First of all the area of arts and music are ways of preserving a country’s culture and heritage. Through these methods the society is not far away from appreciating her common identity. For example, investing in beautification of the road with the country’s national flag and motto will help our children appreciate what the country stands for. This will help him to keep to memory and innate in the child about the heritage and norms of his country and not waiting until he is taught in school.

Also, there is no doubt about the high rate of unemployment in the society. Training people in the area of arts and theater can help create employment for the youths who have no job. For example engaging them in exhibiting sculpture which can be put at strategic places, performing in theater arts for those who have interest will see our youths been engaged all the time and forgetting social vices. This will also serve as a sort of relaxation for the society when they come to patronize the theatre by watching these artist perform.

In conclusion, budgeting in arts, music and theater will help us preserve our culture and also provide employment opportunities to our high number of unemployed youths. There is no waste of resources in protecting our identity and preventing unemployment. Those who think otherwise should have a rethink.

Hello!

Introduction - 'these mentioned area' - It is unclear which areas you mean.

First main paragraph - 'beautification of the road with the country's national flag'?

Second main paragraph - Irrelevant. Investments in public services would also increase employment. How do you know that people will go to these performances?

All the best,
David
