The table presents the percentage of national consumers’ spending on different items in five different countries in 2002. Based on the table, consumers in all five countries- Ireland, Italy, Spain, Sweden and Turkey- have similar preferences in distributing of their budget. They mostly spend on food, drinks and tobacco. In particular, In Turkey and Ireland consumers spend correspondingly 32.14% and 28.91% of their money on this category. Clothing and footwear category is on the second place by consumers’ spending. In Italy consumers spend 9% of their money on this category while the rest of the countries spend in the range of 5% to 7%. The last category presented is expenditures on leisure and education. In Turkey, consumers spend 4.35% of their budget on leisure and education whereas people in Spain and Ireland devote correspondingly 1.98% and 2.21% of their money on this category. In Italy and Sweden the spending on this category is approximately the same and counts around 3.2%.
